Commentaries On The Times Radio with Playthell Benjamin and Dr. Basil Wilson

TruthWorks Network presents “Commentaries On the Times Radio”  Hosted by Playthell Benjamin and Dr. Basil Wilson to our exciting Black Voice Collaborative line up. The weekly program will  feature the best of the writings of Playthell Benjamin with commentary from his renowned virtual magazine, “Commentaries On the Times”. The program broadcasts Monday, 10 pm ET. Benjamin and Wilson bring a scope of more than 60 years combined scholarship, publications, journalism and broadcasting experience to TruthWorks.

Benjamin, a former pioneer in the development of Black Studies programs and pundit broadcasting, he comes to a microphone with tremendous knowledge, insight and passion.  Of his essays and commentaries, he labels these tremendously illuminating wordsmith products as, –

“Praising Saints, Celebrating Heroes, Unmasking Charlatans, Defending the Defenseless and Chastising Scoundrels”.

Benjamin on Commentaries on the Times Radio will be no less.

Dr. Basil Wilson  “Bagga” Wilson, is a retired provost of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Currently he’s the Dean of the Criminal Justice Graduate Program, Monroe College  Bronx, New York. Served as Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Chairman Dept. of African American Studies, John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Professor of Political Science, Dept. of African American Studies- John Jay College of Criminal Justice.His publications include the coauthored book with Professor Charles Green of Hunter College. The Struggle for Black Empowerment in New York City: Beyond the Politics of Pigmentation (1991), a monograph, David Dinkins and the Goliaths of New York City (African American Research Institute, 1991).

“Commentaries On the Times Radio with Playthell Benjamin and Dr. Basil Wilson” broadcasts each Thursday at 10pm LIVE and Call-In. The program discusses matters of current domestic and international politics and events, issues of culture throughout the Diaspora, sports and personalities in the news.  Based on the writings of the hosts, the contemporary events and reports are placed in the context of history and culture.

Playthell Benjamin, introduces topics and shares the week’s entry into his weekly E-Zine, “Commetaries On the Times” each week. Benjamin brings a scope of 40 years of outstanding journalism and broadcasting to TruthWorks.  As a former pioneer in the development of Black Studies programs and pundit broadcasting, he comes to a microphone with tremendous knowledge, insight and passion.  Of his products, he labels his wordsmith products as, “Praising Saints, Celebrating Heroes, Unmasking Charlatans, Defending the Defenseless and Chastising Scoundrels”. We expect that his show will be no less.

Dr. Wilson highlights issues with an examination of history, culture and political intersection of contemporary events. The duo offers intriguing examination and exchange commentary and analysis of world and domestic issues with carefully researched and informed historical background of the issues of day, including Black history, art, music and current events and people.
